More about me:
Trying a little something new, here's my Conversational Style Resume (old version is
still available):
Summary:
I'm an extremely driven young entrepreneur with experience in business development,
marketing, strategy and product work in both consumer and enterprise Internet
business models. I'm consistently driven to perform at the highest levels and fiercely
competitive. I'm a proven negotiator with a history of closing deals. I possess
exceptional writing skills. I'm detailed and analytical, highly adaptable and a proven
leader from an early age.
I have a passion for making great things happen quickly.
Work History:
Salesforce.com: Business Development: April 2008 - Present
I currently work at Salesforce.com in a strategic account and new business
development roll. In my first 90 days, I created over $100,000 in new business
pipeline.
Vipe - Co-Founder: August 2006 - January 2008
Vipe created an easy to use, instantly deployable recruiting tool to video interview
candidates and collaboratively review those interviews.
I co-founded Vipe and led all business development and marketing efforts,
successfully leading our product and company from idea stage to deployment with
paying clients.
As a co-founder, my responsibilities included not only business development, but
extensive market and product knowledge, corresponding strategy and product
features. I routinely met with industry experts, prospective customers and outside
advisers to further craft our product. In addition, I created Go To Market strategy for
each iteration of Vipe's product.
I helped lead Vipe over a 1.5 year period. I learned more during this time than any
other time in my life. We had some major successes at Vipe that I'm proud of:
- We closed a round of funding.
- We grew the company from 2 people to 4 full time, 3 consultants.
- We filed for patents.
- We closed our first paying customer, a major, well known recording artist.
Following this, we closed a handful of other well known companies as customers
- We put together a very respectable advisory team.
RGA Associates - Management Consulting: December 2005 - August 2006
A technical recruiting role that worked extensively with software companies,
particularly startups.
My main takeaways from this position were sales skills in a hard, cold calling
environment, and the ability to communicate very effectively with engineers. During
my time here, I closed the largest software engineering placement of the year up to
that point. RGA is where I formed the idea for a better kind of hiring process and
eventually resigned to build Vipe.
United States House of Representatives, Education and the Workforce
Committee (Internship): Summer 2005
Working on Capital Hill was an incredible experience where I had the opportunity to
meet a number of decision makers in person. I also started a political satire blog for
interns that garnered several hundred unique visitors a day.
Diving Coach: Summers of 2003, 2004
I started and ran a summer diving program to coach children ages 7-18. It became
the most profitable program for the Incline Recreational Department.
Education:
Awarded a Political Science degree from the University of California at Berkeley in
2005.
Outside of work:
Other things I've done:
I was a springboard and platform diver for 17 years, a career that included qualifying
for 17 National Championships, 11 Pac-10 Finals, and being a member of the fastest
college swim team in the history of the world.
I also was also awarded Pac-10 All Academic.
Prior to college, I served as an Athlete Representative to the United States Diving
Association for 6 consecutive years; I spearheaded several high profile rule changes
that benefited young athletes.
In what's left of my spare time, I like to cook, read, work out, mountain bike, ski, and
spend time in Tahoe.
I made these websites:
www.NathanielDean.com (My personal website)
www.DivingFriends.com (a Ning social network for divers)
www.TheCliffhangers.com (A site for the group I ski with)
Some general skills:
MS Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Salesforce.com, Google
Analytics, Google Adwords/Adsense, Wordpress, basic SEO/SEM, recruiting, general
